The purpose of this one-day workshop will be to practice the simple pleasure of sketching outdoors (weather permitting) and, importantly, to feel comfortable and at ease with the process. Guided by artist Terry Whitworth, you will be doing a series of short sketches, using some of the attractive buildings and landscapes around Symondsbury Estate as subject matter and we will learn some techniques and tips to create quick effective, fluid images. The popular technique of line and wash will also be explored.
After a morning of short sketches, you will have lunch followed by an afternoon producing a more detailed painting of one of the many subjects on the Estate.
Please Note: Although it is hoped that outdoor painting will be possible, a contingency plan will be in place for an equally constructive and enjoyable day of painting. With a maximum of 10 painters at the workshop, there will be a good opportunity for lots of one-to-one tuition as well as group discussion.
Date: Tuesday 10th September 2024
Time: 10am - 4pm
